Apex Legends is one of the most popular battle royale games out there – but have you ever wondered how many people play Apex Legends in 2022? Now available on almost every platform as well as having cross-play, the player base continues to grow.
Despite Respawn’s timid expectations, the Apex Legends player count hit 1 million within the first 24 hours of release back on February 4, 2019.
Then, by the end of the first week, it had reached 25 million players, and then 50 million in the first month. This was an incredible feat for a game that launched out of nowhere, with no marketing before release.
Referring to the launch of Apex Legends as the “Beyoncé drop,” Respawn’s battle royale was released without any heavy previous marketing. They also used Twitch streamers and YouTubers to promote the game, rather than the traditional means.
But, over three years on, how many people play Apex Legends now?

Approximately 130 million players have dropped into Apex Legends over its lifetime.
On April 14, 2021, Respawn announced that Apex Legends has hit 100 million players in total. This will have been boosted largely thanks to the release of the game on Steam and Nintendo Switch.
In EA’s earnings call in February, the publisher said that monthly active players in Apex were “up more than 30% year-over-year in Q3.”
“With more than 28 million new players joining in the last year and new seasons and in-game events that continue to deliver new experiences to a deeply engaged community, FY 2022 is the biggest year yet for Apex.”
While the exact figure wasn’t revealed, we can at least assume somewhere around 130 million total players have now played the game since.

EA revealed that Season 10 (and Season 9 before it) were a massive success. While the publisher declined to offer concrete player numbers, the game’s popularity on Twitch jumped to 130 million hours during Season 10.
During an earnings call, EA’s CEO Andrew Wilson said “It [Apex Legends] was one of the most-watched titles on Twitch during the quarter with more than 130 million hours of Season 10 content watched to date, up nearly 40% from the previous season.”
On August 4, 2021, EA revealed that Apex Legends averages 13 million weekly active players. Season 9 also set a new record for daily peak players across all seasons.
In their latest earnings call in February 2022, EA said that Apex Legends had a 30% growth in new players year-over-year for the second year in a row. And, Apex Legends is certain to get another massive boost in players in 2022, thanks to the planned mobile launch that is gaining momentum and anticipation.
