Rapper Big Scarr (Alexander Woods), from Memphis, died on Thursday as a result of a heroin overdose. Gucci Mane announced his passing on Instagram.

On Thursday, at about 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time, word of the Memphis rapper’s demise emerged on social media (December 22).

Big Scarr made his professional debut in July 2020 with “SoIcyBoyz” on The New 1017 compilation album Gucci Mane Presents, “So Icy Summer,” alongside labelmates Pooh Shiesty and Fogiano. Scarr was one of only three musicians to make an appearance on a track by themselves throughout the entire compilation.

Earlier this month, he announced his first national tour, serving as Key Glock’s opening act on his Glockoma Tour, which kicks off on March 5.

He was raised by his father in South Memphis. Eight of his siblings are living. His cousin Pooh Shiesty is also a rapper. In a conversation with Our Generation Music, Woods referred to his father as his best friend.
